Our growing range of travel images from elsewhere in the world is an increasingly important aspect of the business, with images available for licensed use or travel mementoes and gifts. Thanks for your patience! 12 February 2010 There is an unfolding humanitarian disaster in Mongolia, which is suffering its worst dzud (summer drought followed by severe winter) since 2001, when 4 million livestock perished and many nomadic people lost their way of life or their lives. It is estimated that 20 million livestock could be lost this time. Half of aimags (provinces) have been declared disaster areas and loss of life is expected among herding communities.
